How you can make your own soymilk!~
Using a Soymilk maker like Soybella® makes the task very easy.
Just add the soaked (overnight) soybeans to the cup and water to the pitcher and press ‘Milk’. The beans are then heated and blended and strained by the machine, giving an easy pouring of warm soymilk when done.
If a maker is too expensive, try this:
Purchase dry soybeans in bulk at your local health-food store.
Soak them overnight
– they expand very much, so make sure to give them plenty of room.
Put them in desired quantity of water ~ say, 2-4 cups for every liter of water.
Bring water with soybeans to a light simmer.
Let cool some, then pulverize about 5 times in a blender.
Strain with mesh or cheesecloth and cool.
Sweeten with a bit of sugar or honey, salt to taste and serve.
That was easy enough, right?
That’s why people should make their own soymilk.
It can be used as a supplement to breastfeeding as well, in lieu of formula – our baby loves it, and he is growing well and quite healthy. Suffice to say, he loves his soymilk, and drinks it in large quantities – so now we are making his soymilk in large quantities.
Soybeans (organic) are around $1.40 per pound and a pound can make several quarts of soymilk. A quart sells for $2 around here, and so it is clearly a bargain that is so blatant that it makes me wonder: ‘Why aren’t more people making their own soymilk?’
Let’s be consumers of what we make, rather than so many minuture packaged goods, which are more “convenient” than economical – but isn’t it convenient to be economical?
If you are asking yourself ‘how do I make soymilk from soybeans’ – then, it is likely a wise choice to choose the convenience of buying soybeans and making them, with love, in your own home.
Peace be with you.
